Shalom D Susu Enterprise, a microfinance company, recently made a generous donation to the Ghana Society for the Socially Disadvantaged, previously known as the Kaneshie Cripples Home. This donation is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility efforts to support and enhance the living conditions of individuals living with disabilities in the home.

The Kaneshie Cripples Home offers free residential-vocational training to individuals living with disabilities and has historically relied heavily on public support. Shalom D Susu Enterprise’s contribution, which included both cash and assorted items, aims to further support and improve the lives of the beneficiaries in the home.

In addition to the financial contribution, Shalom D Susu Enterprise provided food items such as bags of rice, canned fish, cooking oil, milk, oatmeal, and cocoa beverage. Other items included bottled water, sachet water, toiletries, and washing powder.

Founder of Shalom D Susu Enterprise, Rev. Peter Dodoo, emphasized the company’s commitment to providing a reliable platform for economically disadvantaged individuals to save money and build capital for their economic empowerment. The company, with over 30 years of experience, has successfully assisted thousands in lifting themselves out of poverty.

Ms. Evelyn Ampadu, the Centre Manageress, expressed gratitude to Shalom D Enterprise for their support, noting that the donation would significantly improve the lives of the beneficiaries. The Kaneshie Cripples Home, established in 1958 by the Department of Social Welfare and the Ministry of Health, aims to enhance the quality of life for individuals living with disabilities and socially disadvantaged youth through free residential-vocational training.

Currently, there are 34 beneficiaries receiving training in various skills such as dressmaking, tailoring, shoemaking, and beadmaking. The goal is to equip these individuals with the necessary skills to become independent, self-sufficient, and contribute to national development. Upon completion of the three-year training program, beneficiaries receive start-up tools and equipment to kickstart their careers.

Additionally, they receive wheelchairs, clutches, and counseling services. The program is open to less privileged individuals aged between 15 to 40 years, and Ms. Ampadu appealed for more donors to support and help train more individuals. The plea includes requests for funds for utility bills, refurbishment of the boys’ dormitory, and painting of the facility to provide a better living environment for the beneficiaries.

Overall, Shalom D Susu Enterprise’s donation to the Ghana Society for the Socially Disadvantaged reflects their commitment to uplifting the less privileged in society and providing them with opportunities for economic empowerment and self-sufficiency.
