The Association of Retired Immigration Officers (ARIO) recently welcomed 12 newly elected executives to lead the organization for the next four years. Mr. Moses K. Gyamfi serves as President, with Veronica Addy as Vice President. Francis Pobee and Celestine Kufe take on the roles of General Secretary and Assistant General Secretary, respectively. Judith Bruce Konduah holds the position of Treasurer, while Gershon Dela Dovi serves as the Financial Secretary, Erasmus Tyei as the Assistant Financial Secretary, and Mary Agbele as the Welfare and Public Relations Officer.

Additionally, Konduah Hodari Okae, Judith Dzokoto Lomoh, and Loius Akins were appointed as Ex-Officio Executive Members. The induction ceremony for the new executives took place in Accra, where they were welcomed into their roles by Former Chief Director of the Ministry for the Interior, Mrs. Adelaide Annor-Kumi.

Mr. Gyamfi expressed gratitude on behalf of the newly elected executives for the support received from the Service, particularly from the Comptroller General of Immigration, Mr. Kwame Asuah Takyi. He highlighted the Service’s dedication to enhancing their welfare, providing an office and a permanent meeting venue for their events. Mr. Gyamfi noted these as significant achievements and motivations for the members.

The establishment of the ARIO Fund by the Service was described by Mr. Gyamfi as a novel initiative that would benefit the Association both in the present and in the future. He emphasized the need for the Association to decentralize and cover all 19 Administrative Regions of the Service to allow members to participate in activities throughout the country. Mr. Gyamfi also made a plea for logistical support, specifically requesting a vehicle for the Association.

Acknowledging the outgoing executives for their contributions, Mr. Gyamfi pledged to work towards making the Association more appealing and attractive to potential retired officers of the GIS. The CGI, Mr. Kwame Asuah Takyi, commended ARIO for uniting retirees of the Service and encouraged them to continue fostering a sense of brotherhood and representing the Service positively.

Members of the National Immigration Management Committee of the Service, along with the Migrant Band of the GIS Dance Band, attended the induction ceremony to add entertainment to the event. The overall goal of ARIO is to support and unite retired immigration officers and contribute to their welfare and well-being as they transition into retirement.

In conclusion, the induction of the new executives marks a new chapter for ARIO, with a renewed focus on expanding and improving the services and support provided to retired immigration officers across the country. This dedication and commitment to the welfare of members will ensure the continued success and growth of the Association for years to come.
