The 67th independence anniversary in Ghana was celebrated with parades in various regional and district capitals across the country. The events showcased the patriotism and unity of the nation as citizens gathered to commemorate the milestone.

In Ayawaso Central, a parade was held at the Aladjo AstroTurf Park with the participation of 15 schools. The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Archibold Cobbina, addressed the crowd and emphasized the importance of promoting peace and unity, especially during the upcoming elections. The parade witnessed the display of cadets and marching bands, with Kotobabi 1&2 GK/Primary School being recognized as the best school in the march past.

Similarly, in Ga Central, 442 pupils and 122 teachers from 18 basic schools joined the parade, with Odorgonno SHS receiving accolades as the best school. The MCE, Ambrose Tsegah, urged citizens to work together to enhance the country’s democratic credentials and ensure a peaceful election process.

In Ga South Municipality, 3,810 students from nine circuit schools participated in the celebration at Negleshie Amanfro. The MCE, Joseph Nyarni, and the Municipal Educational Director, Henry Ayetse, encouraged Ghanaians to prioritize peaceful voting despite partisan differences. Awards were presented to students who excelled in past examinations, motivating others to strive for academic excellence.

The Greater Accra parade at Accra High School Park saw the presence of dignitaries such as the MCE of Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly, Samuel Tawiah, Dr Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings, and Regional Minister designate, Titus Glover. The call for collective efforts to transform Accra into a hub for socio-economic growth was made by Mr Tawiah, emphasizing the importance of a conducive environment for development.

In other regions such as Upper West, Volta, Bono, Northern, Central, and Western, similar parades were held with various schools, security personnel, and dignitaries participating. The messages echoed a commitment to national unity, peaceful coexistence, and development. The importance of instilling values of freedom, justice, and peace in the younger generation was highlighted as crucial for building a better future for Ghana.

Overall, the 67th independence anniversary celebrations in Ghana showcased a spirit of patriotism, unity, and commitment to democratic values. The parades symbolized the collective effort of Ghanaians towards progress, development, and a better future for the nation.
