Ghana: Oti Regional Minister-designate meets paramount chief of Krachi

The President of the Oti Region House of Chiefs (ORHC) and Paramount Chief of Krachi Traditional Area, Nana Mprah Besemuna III, recently met with the Oti Regional Minister-designate, Deputy Superintendent of Prisons (DSP) retired, Mr Daniel Machator. During their meeting, Nana Mprah Besemuna urged Mr Machator to work closely with the chiefs in the region to ensure that development projects are successful.

Nana Mprah Besemuna emphasized the importance of the chiefs in the development of the region, noting that they are the custodians of the land and play crucial roles in the development process. He stressed the need for collaboration and coordination between the minister and the chiefs to ensure rapid and sustainable development in the region. The President of the ORHC expressed confidence in Mr Machator’s abilities and urged him to utilize his rich experiences to meet the development needs of the people.

Mr Machator visited Nana Mprah Besemuna at his palace in Kete-Krachi to introduce himself and seek the blessings and support of the traditional rulers in the region. The President of the ORHC assured the minister of the readiness of traditional authorities to support him in accelerating development in the region, as the residents continually seek growth and progress.

Nana Mprah Besemuna highlighted the untapped potential for development in the Oti Region, especially in harnessing the socio-economic opportunities for the benefit of the people. He expressed confidence that Mr Machator would meet the expectations of the residents and work towards fulfilling their development aspirations.

In response, Mr Machator commended the efforts of the chiefs and residents in maintaining peace, which he described as a vital foundation for development. He urged the people to prioritize peace and unity, as violence and conflicts impede progress and hinder development. Mr Machator called on the chiefs and residents to address chieftaincy and communal conflicts, emphasizing the need to eliminate such obstacles to pave the way for development.

DSP Machator, who previously served as the Head of the Public Affairs Unit at the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC), and as the Deputy Chief Public Relations Officer for the Ghana Prisons Service (GPS), acknowledged the responsibilities that come with the confidence placed in him by the President and the traditional rulers. He appealed to the people to unite towards a common goal and destiny for the development of the region.
