The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, emphasized the importance of unity within the party as they gear up for the December presidential and parliamentary election. He highlighted that a united front is essential for the party to achieve success in the upcoming election, but expressed optimism about the rejuvenation within the party’s ranks.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Central Region campaign team for the 2024 election, Mr. Kodua stressed the need for a cohesive effort to secure victory in both parliamentary seats and the presidential election. The campaign team’s role would involve working closely with the various constituency teams to ensure a unified front that will lead the party to success.
Mr. Kodua emphasized that winning the election would enable the next government to complete all ongoing projects in the country. He warned that a victory for a different political party could derail the transformation agenda of the NPP by halting these projects. He urged party members to address any existing grudges and grievances within the party and assured them that the new leadership is committed to addressing their concerns.
The General Secretary called on NPP members to rededicate themselves to working for the party’s success in the upcoming election. He was supported by Central Regional Minister, Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan, who underscored the importance of hard work, commitment, forgiveness, and reconciliation in achieving victory. Mrs. Assan emphasized the need for a united front among party members to ensure success in the election.
Majority Leader of Parliament, Alexander Afenyo Markin, echoed the call for unity among party members and expressed confidence in the NPP’s chances of winning the election. He reassured members that the appointment of Prof. Naana Opoku Agyemang as John Dramani Mahama’s running mate should not be a cause for concern, as the NDC lacks a running mate for the election.
Mr. Markin urged MMDCEs to prioritize grassroots engagement and called on parliamentary candidates to be resourceful and market themselves effectively. He emphasized that the election was not a referendum on the NPP but a choice between competing ideas, urging voters to support a party with superior ideas like the NPP.
The Acting Regional Chairman, Percy Dennis Quaicoe, reiterated the party’s commitment to securing victory in the 2024 election and urged team members to work together in the best interest of the party. He stressed the importance of unity and commitment towards the party’s goals.
In conclusion, the message from the NPP leadership is clear – unity, hard work, commitment, forgiveness, and reconciliation are vital for the party’s success in the upcoming election. By working together and ensuring a cohesive effort, the NPP aims to retain power and continue its agenda for the transformation of Ghana.
