Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Presidential Candidate and leader of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), recently inaugurated the 2024 National Campaign Team and the Manifesto Committee of the Party. The campaign team, led by the former Minister of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development, Dan Kwaku Botwe, and the Manifesto Committee, chaired by the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, were both established to strategize and prepare for the upcoming general election.

During the inauguration in Accra, Dr Bawumia emphasized the importance of unity within the party. He urged all members to play a role in the party’s quest to secure victory in the upcoming election. Dr Bawumia highlighted that the party has a clear vision, strong ideas, and all the necessary components in place to win the election, with unity being the key element needed to propel the party to success.

Furthermore, Dr Bawumia stressed the importance of involving all past and present party executives in the campaign. With over 40,000 polling stations, he emphasized the need for activities in each station and full participation from the entire membership to ensure a successful campaign.

Dr Bawumia contrasted the NPP’s record and vision with that of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the party’s main opposition. He criticized the NDC for lacking a clear vision and for allegedly stealing the NPP’s ideas and promises. Dr Bawumia pointed out that the NDC’s proposals, such as free WiFi in senior high schools, had already been implemented by the NPP, indicating a lack of originality and foresight on the part of the NDC.

Highlighting the government’s achievements, Dr Bawumia stated that the NPP had outperformed the NDC in every sector. He commended the President for his leadership and affirmed that there was not a single sector where the NDC had surpassed the NPP in performance.

In conclusion, Dr Bawumia’s inauguration of the campaign team and Manifesto Committee signals the party’s readiness and determination to secure victory in the 2024 election. With a strong vision, solid record, and a united front, the NPP is poised to continue its governance and deliver on its promises to the Ghanaian people. As the campaign season unfolds, all members are called upon to actively participate and contribute to the party’s success.
