The National Paralympic Committee (NPC) has announced that an Extraordinary General Assembly will take place on Saturday, April 20. This decision was made after the postponement of the February edition in order to focus on the recently concluded 13th African Games.
During the assembly, the board will discuss and seek approval for various agenda items. This includes the approval of annual membership fees, approval of new para sports and their respective federations/associations, as well as amendments to Article 2 on membership and setting a date for the Elective General Assembly per Article 7.
Participants at the assembly will represent a wide range of para sports, including para athletics, para powerlifting, sitting volleyball/para volleyball, shooting para sports, para swimming, wheelchair basketball, para badminton, para taekwondo, para cycling federation, and wheelchair tennis. Additionally, representatives from blind sports federation, cerebral palsy sports, blind football, adaptive boxing, boccia sports, para biathlon, wheelchair rugby, para archery, wheelchair softball, national wheelchair, amputee sports, and others will also be in attendance.
In related news, the Confederation of African Amputee Football (CAAF) has announced the postponement of the African Amputee Football Cup of Nations (AAFCON), originally scheduled for April. The tournament will now take place from May 18 to 30 in Egypt.
