Feuding factions in the communal conflict at Nkwanta in the Nkwanta-South Municipality of the Oti Region have been urged to set aside their differences and engage in peaceful dialogue to resolve their disputes.
The Oti Regional Minister-designate, Deputy Superintendent of Prisons (DSP) (Rtd) Daniel Machator, emphasized the importance of peace as a prerequisite for development in the region. He stated that addressing all chieftaincy disputes in a peaceful manner is essential to create a conducive environment for progress in the Oti Region.
During the swearing-in ceremony of two newly confirmed Municipal Chief Executives (MCEs) for Nkwanta-South Municipality and Krachi-West, Mr. Felix Owusu Gyimah and Mr. Patrick Kwaku Bulator respectively, DSP Machator highlighted the need for unity and cooperation among the people to avoid tension and unrest in the region.
The Regional Minister-designate stressed the significance of leveraging the cultural diversity of the region for the benefit of the residents, rather than allowing it to divide them. He promised to implement initiatives that promote investment and growth, leading to prosperity for the people.
Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, the Volta Regional Minister, administered the oath of office to the MCEs and urged them to expeditiously implement government development programs such as the “One District, One Factory” (1D1F) and Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ). He expressed confidence that the newly appointed MCEs would work diligently to bring much-needed development to their respective areas.
Mr. Gyimah, the Nkwanta-South MCE, expressed gratitude to the President and assembly members for entrusting them with their roles. He assured their commitment to fulfilling their duties effectively and called for collaboration from stakeholders to achieve their goals.
