 Local authorities such as chiefs, District Chief Exec­utives and law enforcement agencies especially the police should be held liable for the surge in illegal mining (galamsey), the Co-chair of the Ghana Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative GHEITI), Dr Steve Manteaw, has said.
