The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) recently completed the construction of a two-unit pavilion classroom block in the Sambiruk community, located in the Bunkrugu-Nakpanduri District of the North-East Region. This project was part of GNAT’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and providing quality education to underserved communities.

During the hand-over ceremony, Rev. Isaac Owusu, the National President of GNAT, expressed the association’s dedication to supporting communities in need of educational infrastructure. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that children have access to suitable learning environments, rather than studying under inadequate conditions such as mud huts. Rev. Owusu pledged to continue supporting deserving communities across the country, highlighting the association’s ongoing commitment to improving the quality of education nationwide.

Rev. Owusu acknowledged the efforts of GNAT members who contributed through the payment of dues, which made the construction of the classroom block possible. He encouraged continued support for initiatives that aim to provide relief and assistance to underprivileged children.

In addition to the classroom block, the District Chief Executive, Mr. Louknaan Joseph, presented 30 dual desks to the school. This contribution was expected to create a more comfortable and conducive learning environment for the students. Mr. Joseph praised GNAT for its timely intervention and investment in constructing the new classrooms for the community.

The Chief of the Sambiruk community, Pokabiuk Osman, along with other community members, expressed their gratitude and excitement for the new infrastructure. They promised to maintain and protect the classrooms, serving as vigilant gatekeepers to ensure the longevity and functionality of the facilities. Chief Osman also appealed to other organizations to follow GNAT’s example and support the community by addressing critical issues, such as the provision of classrooms and teachers.

Overall, the completion of the two-unit pavilion classroom block in Sambiruk was a significant milestone for the community, made possible through the collaborative efforts of GNAT, local officials, and community members. The project reflects GNAT’s dedication to promoting access to quality education in marginalized areas and underscores the importance of investing in infrastructure to support the learning and development of children across Ghana. As GNAT continues its mission to support deserving communities, it sets an inspiring example for other organizations to prioritize education and contribute to the well-being of underserved populations.
