Global Media Alliance (GMA) recently marked the end of International Women’s Month with a meaningful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at empowering young women.
In line with their commitment to gender equality and empowerment, GMA organized a visit to The African Science Academy (ASA), a girls-only Advanced Level school focused on Maths and Science. Established in 2016 by the African Gifted Foundation, ASA targets girls with exceptional potential in Maths and Science. The curriculum at ASA includes training in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Robotics, and Computer Programming to prepare the students for careers in Engineering, Science, and computing, among others.
The CSR project, called “Finding Her Voice,” involved training young girls at ASA on personal branding, public speaking, and leveraging social media to grow their personal brands. The training sessions, led by industry experts from GMA, aimed to empower the young women with communication skills, leadership development, and strategies for navigating professional environments. The interactive workshops provided valuable insights and practical tools to help the students at ASA unlock their potentials and confidently express themselves.
During the training sessions, industry experts emphasized the importance of personal branding, public speaking, and leveraging social media presence. Fati Shaibu-Ali, co-host of the Happy FM Morning Show, highlighted the significance of personal branding beyond physical appearance, urging the girls to become experts in their fields and market their skills effectively on social media.
The Project Lead for e-productions at Global Media Alliance Group guided the students on public speaking, encouraging them to practice with colleagues to build their confidence. She also advised them to seize leadership opportunities to enhance their public speaking skills. In addition, a Digital Executive at Global Media Alliance provided the students with tips on how to leverage social media platforms effectively.
Emma Wenani, Chief Director of Global Media Alliance, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, emphasizing the company’s belief in the power of education and mentorship to inspire and uplift young women. The Headteacher of ASA, Gifty Ghansah, expressed gratitude to GMA for their support, and the students and staff were presented with gifts from Flow Wellness and Ghandour Cosmetics, the event’s sponsors.
Overall, the visit to The African Science Academy was a valuable opportunity for GMA to engage with bright minds and encourage young women to find their voices in a world that values diversity and inclusivity. Through initiatives like “Finding Her Voice,” GMA continues to make a positive impact in empowering and inspiring the next generation of female leaders.
