The Electric Company of Ghana (ECG) recently issued a statement warning customers about potential power outages and voltage fluctuations in certain areas. According to the ECG, the increased demand for electricity during peak load times, particularly from 7pm to 11pm, could lead to blown fuses and broken conductors, causing outages in affected locations. In response to these challenges, the ECG assured customers that transformer upgrades and new projects are underway to enhance the reliability of the power supply.

To address localized outages and voltage fluctuations, the ECG urged customers in specific communities and localities to report any issues to the ECG Call Center at 0302-611611 or through their social media handles on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The ECG emphasized the importance of prompt reporting to facilitate timely rectification of power-related problems.

In a separate development, the ECG’s Managing Director, Samuel Dubik Mahama, acknowledged the maintenance issues facing the company, which have contributed to frequent power disruptions, commonly referred to as dumsor. Mahama attributed the challenges to the nature of working with machines, which are susceptible to malfunctions that can result in power supply issues. Despite these challenges, Mahama assured customers that the ECG is actively working to address maintenance issues and enhance the overall power distribution system in Ghana.

The ECG’s call for customer support and patience underscores the collaborative effort required to improve Ghana’s power infrastructure and mitigate the impact of power outages. By encouraging customers to report problems and engaging with them through various communication channels, the ECG aims to foster a transparent and responsive approach to addressing power-related issues.

In conclusion, the ECG’s proactive measures to address power outages and voltage fluctuations, coupled with ongoing maintenance efforts and investments in infrastructure upgrades, reflect a commitment to delivering reliable electricity services to customers. With a collective effort from both the ECG and its customers, Ghana’s power distribution system can become more resilient and responsive to the growing energy demands of the country.
