The number of visa applications processed in Ghana in 2023 has nearly doubled compared to 2022, according to HarÂiprasad Viswanathan, Head of Sub-Saharan Africa at VFS Global. He stated that applications processed at the Ghana Passport Premium Application Centres operated by VFS Global have seen a 30% increase throughout the year, indicating a growing interest in overseas travel among Ghanaian residents.
The year 2023 witnessed a significant rise in global outbound travel, including in countries like Ghana. Mr. Viswanathan highlighted the reasons behind the increased demand for visas and provided insights for applicants to consider as they prepare for the current peak travel season. He mentioned, “Based on the initial trends, we expect the surge in international travel observed in 2022 and 2023 to continue this year.”
Outbound travel has bounced back to pre-pandemic levels, with tourism, family visits, education, and business trips being common reasons for Ghanaians traveling abroad. Due to the high demand for outbound travel and limited appointment slots available, applicants are encouraged to apply for visas early, similar to booking flights and accommodations.
As a leading player in outsourced visa and consular services for governments, VFS Global is committed to enhancing the visa application experience through innovative solutions. Mr. Viswanathan emphasized the company’s efforts to provide applicants with information on processing timelines, data protection, fraud detection, and value-added services.
Applicants are advised to ensure they have all the necessary documentation, including a checklist printout, when submitting their application forms. They should also check the VFS Global website for important requirements and guidelines for visiting the Visa Application Centre.
Regarding premium vehicle registration and driver license services, Mr. Viswanathan announced that Bridge Direct, in partnership with VFS Global, would soon launch an advanced center to cater to Ghanaians’ vehicle and license application needs. The new Ultra DVLA Centre in Accra aims to offer a convenient and comfortable environment for applicants to complete their submissions.
With the introduction of this modern facility, VFS Global is confident in providing transparent and scalable solutions for citizens in Ghana. As the demand for travel and related services continues to grow, the company remains committed to supporting applicants with efficient and reliable visa and consular services.
In conclusion, the rise in visa applications processed in Ghana reflects the increasing interest in international travel among its residents. VFS Global’s dedication to enhancing the visa application process and providing advanced services demonstrates its commitment to meeting the evolving needs of applicants in Ghana.
