In an interview with the Daily Graphic, William Boateng, the Director of Communications at ECG, revealed that electricity demand had increased by 10% since December, putting a strain on their infrastructure.

Boateng refuted claims of a power generation shortfall, emphasizing that the current challenges were unrelated to generation and had already been addressed. He stated, “The issue of the generational shortages has been fixed. But outages are still being experienced in some areas and that is mainly due to the increase in power demand at this time of the year when the extremely high temperature means prolonged use of cooling appliances.”

He further mentioned that the increased power demand could lead to blown fuses, broken conductors, phase-offs, and low voltages, urging customers to report any localized outages and voltage fluctuations to the ECG Call Center for immediate resolution.

Despite the setbacks, Boateng highlighted that ECG has made significant improvements in its services through infrastructure investments. Looking ahead, he mentioned that the company plans to continue investing in advancing service efficiency in the coming year.

Additionally, it was conveyed that in response to the surge in electricity demand, ECG has been working towards enhancing its services. Boateng also assured that the company is constantly seeking to improve the reliability and effectiveness of their operations. The company intends to ensure that their infrastructure can cater to the increasing demand for electricity and provide reliable services to their customers.

To support these efforts, ECG will continue to invest in infrastructure and technology to meet the growing demands of the electricity sector. Boateng emphasized that ECG is committed to delivering high-quality and consistent electricity services to its customers and will continue to explore ways to improve and expand its offerings.
