The Cancer Support Network Foundation (CSNF) recently organized a Cancer Awareness Walk in Accra, attracting a large number of participants. The event started at Accra Girls Senior High School and passed through different streets in the area. As part of the walk, informative flyers were distributed to the public, spreading the message of cancer awareness beyond just the participants.

The main goal of the event was not only to educate the public about cancer but also to create a sense of community among those affected by the disease and those who support the cause. Ms. Raissa Sambou, an executive member of the CSNF, used the occasion to appeal to the government to establish a dedicated fund to help cancer patients who face financial difficulties in accessing treatment. She also stressed the importance of increasing access to cancer treatment in underprivileged communities, especially in the northern part of the country.

Ms. Sambou encouraged individuals to contribute to the CSNF’s mission by providing financial support, highlighting the significant role that collective efforts play in expanding the organization’s reach. The President of the CSNF, Mr. Akwasi Osei Owusu, expressed his gratitude to the founder, Dr. Juliet Appiah Quansah, a Medical Oncologist whose vision had guided the organization towards its noble cause. Mr. Owusu praised Dr. Quansah’s dedication to ensuring that everyone in Ghana and Africa can survive cancer, and reiterated the CSNF’s commitment to promoting cancer awareness and supporting financially vulnerable patients. He promised that the foundation would continue its efforts to contribute to a world free from the burden of cancer.

The organizer of the CSNF, Ms. Ramatu Sumani, emphasized in her remarks that the Cancer Awareness Walk served as a reminder of the impact of cancer on individuals and communities, as well as the power of collective action in bringing about change. She highlighted the CSNF’s unwavering commitment to its mission, aligning with the beliefs of those who envision a future where cancer is not only treatable but preventable, ensuring a healthier and cancer-free world for all.

Overall, the Cancer Awareness Walk organized by the CSNF was a successful event that not only raised awareness about cancer but also emphasized the importance of community support in combating the disease. The calls for increased government funding for cancer treatment, as well as individual contributions to the cause, reflect a collective effort towards a common goal of creating a world where cancer is no longer a prevalent threat.
