The Cranes of Uganda and the Black Stars of Ghana played to a thrilling 2-2 draw in an international friendly match held at the Grande De Stade Marrakech in Morocco. The game saw Jerome Osei Opoku and Jordan Ayew scoring for the Black Stars on the 8th and 27th minutes respectively, while Steven Dese Mukwala and Muhammad Shaban found the back of the net for the Ugandans on the 22nd and 82nd minutes.

After suffering a 2-1 defeat to Nigeria in their previous match, Ghana coach Otto Addo was eager to secure a positive result from this game. Opoku, a towering central defender, set the tone early for the Ghanaians by heading in a cross from Jordan Ayew in the seventh minute.

Despite Ghana’s dominance on the field, the Cranes managed to level the score through Mukwala, who converted a penalty after a foul by defender Ebenezer Annan on Roger Kassim Mato. The Ugandans continued to press forward but were unable to break through the solid defensive pairing of Opoku and Annan.

Jordan extended Ghana’s lead to 2-1 in the 27th minute by converting a penalty kick after a foul on Denis Odoi. This marked Jordan’s 24th goal for the Black Stars and his fourth in the last three games for the team.

In the second half, Ugandan coach Paul Put urged his team to push forward in search of an equalizer, which they eventually found in the 82nd minute through a goalmouth scramble that saw Shaban finding the back of the net.

Looking ahead, the Black Stars are set to participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June, where they will face Mali and the Central African Republic.

The match between Uganda and Ghana showcased the talent and competitiveness of both teams, with high-intensity action and impressive performances from key players on both sides. Both teams showed resilience and determination, resulting in a well-deserved draw for each team.

In conclusion, the international friendly between the Cranes of Uganda and the Black Stars of Ghana was a testament to the skill and sportsmanship displayed by both teams. The draw was a fair reflection of the evenly matched contest, and both sides can take pride in their performance on the field.
