The Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly was recently honored as the overall best Municipal Assembly in the second edition of the National District Awards, 2024 by the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) in collaboration with the Millennium Excellence Foundation. This recognition highlights the exceptional work and dedication of the assembly in promoting transparency, accountability, and evidence-based decision-making at both national and subnational levels.

The District League Table (DLT), introduced in 2014, has played a crucial role in fostering transparency, accountability, and evidence-based decision-making at both national and subnational levels. The DLT serves as a valuable tool for monitoring and evaluating development outcomes, shedding light on inequalities and disparities in well-being across the country.

The 2022 DLT version ranked 261 Metropolises, Municipalities, and Districts based on eight sectors and 18 indicators, with a focus on the survival and development of children. This comprehensive assessment provides insights into Ghana’s development progress across various sectors, guiding policymakers in making informed decisions to promote sustainable development.

During the awards ceremony, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Nii Adjei Tawiah, expressed gratitude to His Royal Highness, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Executive Board, and the National Development Planning Commission for recognizing the Assembly’s efforts. The MCE reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to excellence and emphasized the importance of community support in achieving their goals.

Despite facing challenges in implementing beneficial mandates due to pushbacks from some communities, the MCE urged the public to support the Assembly’s work to ensure clean and safe cities for all residents. He dedicated the award to all Assemblies in Ghana, encouraging them to strive for excellence and work towards the betterment of the country with the support of citizens.

The prestigious award serves as a testament to the Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly’s dedication to serving its community and achieving positive outcomes in various sectors. By continuing to uphold high standards of governance and accountability, the Assembly aims to contribute to Ghana’s overall development and well-being.

In conclusion, the recognition of the Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly as the best Municipal Assembly in the National District Awards, 2024 is a significant achievement that underscores the importance of transparency, accountability, and community support in driving sustainable development at the local level. With a commitment to excellence and the support of its citizens, the Assembly is well-positioned to continue making a positive impact on the well-being of its residents and the broader Ghanaian community.
