Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, the leader and founder of the Movement For Change, recently embarked on a campaign in some major markets in Accra to promote his Great Transformational Plan (GTP). The former Trade and Industry Minister visited markets such as Okaishie, Makola, Tudu, TS, Kwasiadwaso, Abossey Okai, Kaneshie, and Kokompe.

The presence of Mr. Kyerematen brought business activities to a halt as traders paused to catch a glimpse of the man who has been involved in their industry for the past seven years. Accompanied by his wife and members of the Movement, his first stop was at the palace of the late Okaishie-Mantse, Nii Tetteh Kwao I, where he offered his condolences and sought the family’s blessing for his presidential bid.

The campaign continued as Mr. Kyerematen moved through Okaishie, Makola, Tudu, and TS where he interacted with traders and market associations. He also met with the president and executives of the Greater Accra Market Women Association to understand the challenges they face in their businesses.

At Kwasiadwaso, Mr. Kyerematen engaged with market women to gain insights into their business challenges. He then had a closed-door meeting with executives of the spare parts dealers association at Abossey Okai. Subsequently, he proceeded to Kaneshie market and addressed a mini rally of spare part dealers at Kokompe.

The main goal of this market tour was to assess the needs and challenges faced by traders in Accra as Mr. Kyerematen prepares his manifesto for the 2024 presidential election. During his interactions with traders, he outlined his plans to establish a Trades Bank if elected, to address capital issues for traders in the country.

Mr. Kyerematen also promised to construct state-of-the-art markets across the country to enhance the trading environment and provide a congenial space for businesses to thrive. He urged traders to be cautious of politicians who make promises but fail to deliver once in power, emphasizing his understanding of the trade sector from his experience in the private sector and as Trade and Industry Minister.

The GTP, Mr. Kyerematen’s governance blueprint, aims to address the country’s challenges through a 15-pillar plan grouped into five thematic areas: economic, infrastructure, social services, governance, and behavioral and attitudinal change. As the election approaches, Mr. Kyerematen is dedicated to transforming the fortunes of traders and improving the overall business environment in Ghana.

This campaign in the markets of Accra reflects Mr. Kyerematen’s commitment to understanding and addressing the needs of traders as part of his vision for a transformative future for Ghana.
