From March 26 to 27, 2024, at the Bethel Bakara Reception Center, the Ministry of Women and Child Welfare, in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), is organizing a capacity-building workshop for the team of the Observatory for the Promotion of Gender Equality and Equity (Opeg) in resource mobilization and communication.

The objective of this workshop, which begins on Tuesday, March 26, and brings together around twenty participants, is to strengthen the capacities of the Opeg team in resource mobilization and communication for better active fundraising.

Established in July 2022 by presidential decree, Opeg is tasked with monitoring, controlling, and evaluating progress in promoting gender and women’s rights. “As a young organization, the need for technical support for Opeg is certain. This is why the project ‘Support for the establishment of Opeg in Chad’ was developed and is being implemented by three agencies of the system, namely the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Lead Agency, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), and FAO, which intervenes in rural development, communication, and awareness among others,” said Mahamat Sorto, FAO program manager. “The activity that brings us together today will equip Opeg in fundraising and communication,” he added.

For the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Women and Child Welfare, Moudalbaye Noudandissem Appoline, the workshop will allow the Opeg team to strengthen their capacity in resource mobilization and communication for better active fundraising from partners interested in gender issues. “This workshop will allow you to acquire new knowledge in project development techniques. I urge all parties to take advantage of this opportunity to be available during this training and to be more attentive to information needs,” she exhorted the participants.
