The CEO of Gach Global, Abubakary Jawara, collaborated with the Soninke Scholars League to host a Qur’an recitation competition, where certificates and cash prizes were awarded to the winners. The competition saw participation from 269 individuals from across the country, showcasing their skills in reciting the Qur’an.
The first edition of the competition, named after Abubakary Jawara’s late father, Ba-Jaeja Jawara, took place at Masjid Bilal Boarding School. Abdoulie Mamud Kanyi from Anas Ibn Malik Islamic School emerged as the winner of the competition, reciting the full Qur’an and earning the title of the overall champion. He was awarded a certificate along with a cash prize of D100,000. The runner-up, Abdoulie Muhammed, received a cash prize of D60,000, while Sainey Badjie, who won the best reciters category, was awarded D70,000.
A total of D1.5 million was distributed among the top 20 participants in the competition, recognizing their hard work and dedication to mastering the art of Qur’an recitation. The event not only celebrated the winners but also highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting Islamic traditions and values through events like these.
