The Management of the Social Security and Housing Finance Corporation (SSHFC) demonstrated their commitment to the welfare of the community by handing over an annual Ramadan food package worth half a million dalasi to bedridden pensioners on Tuesday, 2nd April 2024. The event took place at the SSHFC premises in Banjul and was well-attended by senior staff, pensioners, and other members of the community.
Mr. Saloum Malang, the Managing Director of SSHFC, expressed gratitude to everyone present for their support in providing groceries and food items to the bedridden pensioners during the Holy Month of Ramadan. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that no member of the community goes without essential necessities, especially during this sacred time. The food package included items such as rice, sugar, onions, potatoes, cooking oil, and tomato paste to ease the burden on the pensioners during Ramadan and allow them to enjoy the Koriteh festival.
Mr. Malang highlighted that this gesture was not just an act of charity but a demonstration of SSHFC’s dedication to the well-being of the pensioners who had served the nation. He described it as a token of appreciation for their contributions and a reminder that they are valued members of society. This was not the first time SSHFC had provided assistance to the community, as they had previously sponsored medical facilities, supported youth initiatives, and contributed to sporting events and infrastructure development.
One pensioner, Mr. Alphonse Mendy, expressed his appreciation for the timely and generous gesture from SSHFC, especially during the month of Ramadan. He thanked the management of SSHFC, under the leadership of Mr. Malang, for their kindness and support.
Overall, the donation of the Ramadan food package by SSHFC to bedridden pensioners exemplified their dedication to improving the lives of those in need within the community. This act of kindness not only provided essential food items to those who required assistance but also served as a reminder of the importance of supporting and appreciating the contributions of vulnerable members of society. Through their actions, SSHFC demonstrated their commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others and fostering a sense of unity and compassion within the community.
