President Adama Barrow recently handed over a Rural Water Supply project to 62 communities in Faraba Sutu, Kombo East, reaffirming his government’s commitment to providing safe and clean drinking water to Gambians. The project, known as Rural Water Supply (Phase IV), was a collaborative effort between the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Department of Water Resources under the Ministry of Fisheries and Water Resources of The Gambia.
During the ceremony, the Minister of Fisheries and Water Resources, Honourable Musa Drammeh, emphasized the importance of the Department of Water Resources’ efforts in delivering safe and quality drinking water to rural communities, fulfilling President Barrow’s promises outlined in the Recovery-Focused National Development Plan (RF-NDP 2023-2027).
In his address, President Adama Barrow reiterated his administration’s dedication to the welfare of all citizens, highlighting his commitment to ensuring that every citizen, regardless of their location, has access to clean drinking water and electricity. He stressed the crucial role of water in development and expressed his government’s ongoing efforts to prioritize water access as a fundamental component of national development.
The community of Faraba Sutu expressed their gratitude towards President Barrow for not only the provision of water but also for being the first sitting President of The Gambia to visit their village.
