Police spokesperson ASP Binta Njie has confirmed to The Standard that a tragic incident took place yesterday afternoon in Wulingkamma, Brufut, resulting in the loss of three lives. The incident involved a Toyota pick-up truck with registration number BJL 6228 P, driven by a 36-year-old resident of Bakau.
The fatal accident occurred a little past noon when the driver’s mobile phone fell inside the vehicle while he was driving. In an attempt to retrieve the phone, he lost control of the steering and tragically ran over several individuals. Sadly, three people lost their lives on the spot, while the remaining victims were rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention.
ASP Njie disclosed, “It is reported that the driver’s mobile phone fell in the vehicle while he was driving, so he was trying to pick up the phone, he lost control of the steering and ran over some people. Three people reportedly died on the spot. And the rest were taken to the hospital for medical attention.”
