The Village Development Committee (VDC) of KassaKunda has raised concerns about the fraudulent use of the late Alkalo’s official stamp on land transaction documents. Bakary Sanneh, the Public Relations Officer of the VDC, revealed this information during a recent press conference held in KassaKunda. The late Alkalo, Sheriffo Sabally, passed away on December 27th, 2023.
Sanneh accused the younger brother of the late Alkalo, Musa Sabally, of using the official stamp for fraudulent activities. He stated that Musa Sabally used the official stamp for land transactions on December 30th, 2023, just three days after the Alkalo’s death. Additionally, on January 14th, 2024, the VDC discovered another document stamped by Musa Sabally.
The VDC uncovered a case where Lamin Njie allegedly sold a plot of land measuring 50m by 50m to Ousman Badgie for D450,000.00. This transaction was stamped and authorized by Musa Sabally on January 5th, 2024. However, investigations revealed that the 50m by 50m plot did not belong to Lamin Njie but to the rightful owner, Matarr Charreh, who had acquired the plot in 2006.
Furthermore, Sanneh mentioned that Musa Sabally attempted to sell a reserve land that belonged to a school established in 1978. He called on the government, specifically through the Chief of Brikama North, Lamin Mondo Jatta, to intervene and prevent such fraudulent activities in KassaKunda Village. Sanneh also urged the government to assist the village in appointing a new Alkalo to address the ongoing issues they are facing.
The VDC informed the Chief of Brikama North about the situation in KassaKunda and reported the matter to the police prosecution. Although assurances were made to take the case to court on Thursday, they have not received any updates on the progress.
It is essential for the authorities to take swift action to address the fraudulent use of the late Alkalo’s official stamp and prevent further deceitful land transactions in KassaKunda. The community is looking to the government for assistance in appointing a new Alkalo to restore order and prevent such instances in the future. Cooperation between local officials and law enforcement is crucial in resolving these issues and ensuring the protection of property rights in the village.
