Binta Jaiteh, the Chief Executive Officer of Kerewan Area Council (KAC), recently addressed the Finance and Public Accounts Committee (FPAC) of the National Assembly regarding the absence of KAC’s finance director, Abdoulie Khan. Khan was unable to attend the FPAC session due to a ferry breakdown, causing a delay in the presentation and consideration of KAC’s activity report and financial statement for 2020-2021.
The FPAC session was rescheduled twice due to the absence of the council’s chairman and finance director. CEO Martin explained to the committee that Khan had attempted to reach Banjul but was unable to cross from Barra due to the ferry breakdown. She mentioned that there would be no ferry service in the next 24 hours based on the information she received from Khan.
Martin acknowledged the need to be better prepared for future sessions and assured the committee that KAC would attend the next session. However, FPAC chairperson Alagie S. He indicated that they would seek a permit from the office of the Speaker to reschedule the meeting for Friday.
