Gambian Guardian Intelligence and Investigative Service, a prominent organization dedicated to improving security and supporting the Gambia Police Force (GPF), recently made a generous donation of security gadgets to the GPF Scientific Support Unit. The ceremony, held at the GPF Headquarters in Banjul, highlighted the organization’s commitment to enhancing crime investigation capabilities and crime scene management tools for security officers.
The Deputy Inspector General, Momodou Sowe, representing the Inspector General of Police, expressed gratitude for the timely donation and emphasized its significance in the fight against crime. He noted that the modern equipment donated by the Gambian Guardian Intelligence and Investigative Service would greatly benefit the work of the police force, particularly in strengthening investigative procedures and evidence collection in line with technological advancements in the 21st century.
Encouraging the scientific unit to utilize the donated items effectively, the Deputy Inspector General also called upon other sectors to follow the organization’s example in supporting law enforcement efforts, as government resources may be limited. Omar Tunkara, speaking on behalf of the organization, reiterated their commitment to improving security and complementing government initiatives in criminal justice reform.
The donated items, which include evidence bags, crime scene markers, cameras for capturing crime scene images, DNA and blood sampling equipment, footprint casting frames, and various forensic tools, aim to enhance the GPF’s investigative capabilities. Additionally, heavy-duty protective suits, gloves, microscope slides, UV flashlights, fingerprint kits, and crime scene tape were provided to support the GPF in maintaining public safety and security.
The Gambian Guardian Intelligence and Investigative Service’s donation represents a significant step towards improving the GPF’s operational effectiveness and ability to address criminal activities with precision. By contributing essential tools and resources for crime investigation and evidence collection, the organization underscores its dedication to national development and justice delivery.
