The Gambia is gearing up to participate in the upcoming African Games in Ghana with almost one hundred participants competing in eight different sports. The national -U20 football team, volleyball, beach volleyball, Taekwondo, athletics, wrestling, judo, and swimming are the eight groups representing Team Gambia at the games. Arthur Gomez, the secretary general of the Gambia Athletics Association, will serve as the manager of Team Gambia, while Lamin Jawla, the acting Executive Secretary of the National Sports Council, will be the chef de mission.
The final list of players, athletes, and officials representing Team Gambia is expected to be released today. The Ministry of Sports is working diligently to finalize the arrangements for the departure date of the team. The 13th African Games will take place in Ghana from 8th to 23rd March 2024. This edition of the games will be historic as it is only the second time in history that the event will be decentralized, with three cities in the host country, Accra, Kumasi, and Cape Coast, hosting the games.
