The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat has taken a firm stance against the practice of Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C), asserting that it is not in line with Islamic teachings. According to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, the Holy Prophet of Islam, Hazrat Muhammad Mustapha (May peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), was sent as a mercy to all peoples and nations, as stated in the Holy Quran: “And We have sent thee not but as a mercy for all peoples” (Surah Al-Anbiya Chapter 21 verse 108).

In Islam, which is considered a religion of peace, mercy, and compassion, the protection of human rights, dignity, and well-being is of utmost importance. The religion advocates for the well-being and safety of all individuals, and the practice of FGM/C goes against these principles. It is emphasized that the Holy Prophet Muhammad, his companions, and the rightly guided Khulafah never practiced or endorsed FGM/C.

FGM/C is not mentioned in the Holy Quran, and there are no authentic Hadiths or Sunnah that validate this practice during the time of the Holy Prophet. It is reiterated that Islam does not condone practices that harm individuals or put lives at risk. Islam encourages kindness, tolerance, and service to humanity, and any act that goes against these values is not part of Islamic teachings.

Muslims are urged to follow the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad and not associate practices with Islam that were never taught or practiced by him. The Islamic teachings are considered a perfect code of conduct, promoting peace, security, and compassion for all. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat in The Gambia firmly opposes any campaign promoting FGM/C.

It is emphasized that the teachings found in the Holy Quran, Hadiths, and Sunnah provide guidance and protection against evil, transforming individuals into God-fearing and righteous believers. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat calls on adherents to uphold the pure teachings of Islam and not let emotions dictate actions.

In conclusion, Muslims are encouraged to adhere to the pristine teachings of Islam and follow the example of the Holy Prophet Muhammad. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat in The Gambia stands against FGM/C and advocates for upholding the values of peace, compassion, and mercy in accordance with Islamic principles. May Allah bless all believers to follow the teachings of Islam and walk in the footsteps of the Holy Prophet Muhammad. Ameen.
