The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat has previously addressed the topic of Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C) and made it clear that this practice is not Islamic. Islam, as a religion, emphasizes mercy, peace, and the protection of human rights, dignity, and well-being. The Holy Prophet of Islam, Hazrat Muhammad Mustapha, was sent as a mercy to all peoples, and Islam is considered a perfect religion with perfect teachings.
FGM/C is a harmful practice that has never been practiced by the Holy Prophet Muhammad, his rightly guided Khulafah, or his companions. This tradition is not mentioned in the Holy Quran, Sunnah, or Hadith, and it is not practiced in all Muslim-majority countries. Islam condemns any act that harms individuals or puts their lives at risk, and FGM/C goes against the principles of peace, mercy, and compassion that Islam promotes.
Islam encourages service to humanity, looking after the needs of the poor and vulnerable, and spreading love and compassion. The teachings of Islam, as taught by the Holy Prophet Muhammad, promote a code of conduct that serves all of humanity. FGM/C, not being a part of Islamic teachings, should not be associated with Islam, and Muslims should follow the pure and pristine teachings of the Holy Quran and Hadith.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, The Gambia, unequivocally dissociates itself from any campaign promoting FGM/C. The organization encourages following the beautiful teachings of Islam and emulating the beloved Prophet Muhammad.
As Muslims, it is important to differentiate between traditions and customs that are not part of Islamic teachings and to adhere to the true teachings of Islam. Emotions should not dictate actions, and faith should guide behavior. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat urges individuals to follow the path of the Prophet Muhammad and strive for a deeper understanding of Islamic teachings.
May Allah Almighty bless all individuals to follow the pristine teachings of Islam and walk in the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad. Ameen.
