Farafenni Transport Control Association Management Extols Jah Oil Company
The management of Farafenni Transport Control Association is highly appreciative of the Jah Oil Company for its recent gesture towards enhancing the free flow of traffic in the area. The establishment of a garage for trucks at MakaFarafenni by Jah Oil Company is seen as a crucial step in creating a better environment for parking trucks and avoiding the issue of indiscriminate parking by drivers. The opening of the Senegambia Bridge has brought about increased traffic, posing a significant challenge to the transport sector in the region.
Mr. Kitim Dibba, President of the transport association, commended the Governor’s Office and Kerewan Area Council for their support in allocating land for the garage. Prior to the availability of the truck garage, Farafenni had experienced numerous road traffic accidents due to trucks parking along the main highway. The partnership between the association and Jah Oil Company is seen as a positive step towards promoting the private sector and advancing public-private partnerships.
In addition to the garage, Jah Oil Company has also dug a borehole and is in the process of fencing the area, constructing a waiting shed, and planning for the establishment of a fuel station to improve service delivery. The transport association has also contributed by installing solar security lighting and a waiting shed for drivers and customers. The development has led to an expansion of business activities for food sellers, water vendors, and commercial motorcycle operators in the area.
Despite these developments, the association is seeking further support to bring the area up to standard, with plans to concrete the floor before the rainy season. They also expressed gratitude towards the police command for setting up a police checkpoint to enhance road safety in the vicinity.
