Dresden-Banjul Organization, a registered non-governmental organization focusing on health, education, and agriculture, recently donated food items to its staff in preparation for the Holy Month of Ramadan. The organization’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Aaron Leng, explained that the food assistance was given to support staff during the Ramadan period, as it is known to be one of the most expensive months in The Gambia.
Funding for the organization comes from biannual auctions from vehicle sales, which are then used to invest in health, education, and agricultural activities. With a staff of 50 members, each staff member received a 50kg bag of rice and a 5-liter gallon of cooking oil to help reduce their expenses during the month of Ramadan.
Beneficiary Alieu Sanneh expressed gratitude to the organization for the food aid, noting that it will greatly support them during Ramadan. He also called on the business community and the government to assist the less privileged by lowering the prices of essential food items for low-income earners.
Another beneficiary, Absa Nyang, also thanked her employers for the gesture. The gesture of providing food assistance to staff members during Ramadan is a testament to the organization’s commitment to supporting its employees and promoting community welfare.
In addition to providing food aid, Dresden-Banjul Organization is actively involved in various community development initiatives aimed at improving the overall well-being of individuals in The Gambia. Through their focus on health, education, and agriculture, the organization plays a crucial role in addressing key issues and contributing to sustainable development in the region.
The donation of food items to staff members ahead of Ramadan not only demonstrates the organization’s dedication to supporting its employees but also highlights the importance of community solidarity and collaboration in times of need. By coming together to support each other, individuals and organizations can make a positive impact and create a stronger, more resilient community.
As Ramadan approaches, Dresden-Banjul Organization’s gesture of providing food assistance to its staff serves as a reminder of the values of compassion, generosity, and unity that are at the heart of this holy month. Through acts of kindness and support, we can create a more inclusive and caring community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and prosper.
