Gambia: Court Fines Young Driver D2,500 With D75,000 Compensation for Careless Driving

The Brikama Magistrates’ Court has fined Abdoulie Jallow D2,500 for careless driving and ordered him to pay D75,000 in compensation to a victim of a road accident.

Jallow was sentenced by Magistrate K.B. Sambou on Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, after pleading guilty to the charge.

He was charged with careless driving, contrary to Section 51(1) of the Motor Traffic Act, Cap. 70:03, Volume 10, Revised Laws of The Gambia 2009.
