President Adama Barrow has called for clearer rules and stronger commitment among African nations to maximise trade within the continent, describing intra-African trade as vital for economic growth and job creation.

The Gambian leader made the remarks on Monday, 21 July 2025, when he received the Secretary General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), H.E. Wamkele Mene, and his delegation during a courtesy visit at State House in Banjul.
