The Bakoteh diaspora recently made a generous donation of 104 bags of rice to the village in a ceremony held at the Bantaba mosque. The bags of rice were distributed among the mosques in the village and the needy, thanks to the contribution of the natives of Bakoteh residing in the diaspora. The distribution was organized by the Village Development Committee (VDC) and the Central Development Association under the supervision of the alkalo and the councillor.

Sainey Beyai, the Chairman of the Bakoteh Village Development Committee, expressed his gratitude for the timely and useful donation from the village diaspora. He encouraged other natives living abroad to follow in their footsteps and contribute to the development of Bakoteh. He emphasized the importance of prayers from the elders and the commitment of the community towards the common good of the village.

The rice was distributed among the elderly, the poor, and various mosques across the village. Beyai acknowledged that not every household could receive the donation and urged understanding from those who may not have been lucky enough to benefit this year. He also called for prayers for the young people of the village, both those in the diaspora seeking paperwork and those at home with aspirations to travel.

The Bakoteh alkalo, Tijan Jasseh, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration and support of the entire village and the diaspora. He highlighted the significance of the initiative, showcasing the diaspora’s continued connection to the village. Jasseh also commended the VDC for their coordination of development projects in Bakoteh. He took a moment to advise the youth to steer clear of drugs and focus on building their futures, urging families with relatives in the diaspora to encourage them to contribute to the village’s annual donations.

The councillor of Bakoteh ward, Lamin K Jammeh, praised the village diaspora for their contributions and the VDC for ensuring the fair distribution of donations. He emphasized that the diaspora’s support, including the construction of the mosque and other development projects, has been instrumental in advancing the village. Jammeh called upon those who have not yet participated in village development initiatives to step forward and join the effort, emphasizing that it transcends tribal, religious, and political boundaries.

Ya Awa Jeng, a member of the Bakoteh VDC, expressed her appreciation for the village diaspora’s consistent support of the elderly and needy, particularly during Ramadan. She noted that the diaspora contributes to all aspects of development in the village and commended their willingness to assist in various projects.

Overall, the donation of rice from the Bakoteh diaspora exemplifies the strong bond between the village and its members abroad. It serves as a reminder of the importance of community support and collaboration in driving the development and welfare of Bakoteh. The efforts of the diaspora, VDC, and other community leaders demonstrate a shared commitment to the prosperity and well-being of the village.
