The Africa Relief and Community Development, New Jersey, in partnership with World Medical Relief through its office in The Gambia, recently made a significant contribution to the healthcare sector in the country. On Thursday, they donated over $1 million worth of medical equipment, supplies, and furniture to hospitals and primary clinics in remote areas to support the Ministry of Health in providing care to those in need.

The donation ceremony took place at the Gambia Supreme Islamic Council in MDI Road, Kanifing. The donated items included 2 X-Ray machines, 3 Dialysis machines, patient care items, orthopedic equipment, furniture, and more. Musa Camara, the Regional Director of Health for Western One, received the equipment on behalf of the Ministry of Health and expressed gratitude to Africa Relief and Community Development (ARCD) and World Medical Relief for their generosity.

Camara emphasized the importance of the donated items in improving the quality of healthcare services for ordinary Gambians, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals for health. He underscored the significance of collaborative efforts in achieving the health and well-being of the population and thanked the donors for their support.

Abdou Loutif, ARCD Gambia Country Director, recognized the Ministry of Health for their partnership and highlighted previous contributions made by ARCD to the healthcare sector. He mentioned that their support extends beyond equipment donations and includes the construction of health facilities in various communities. Loutif expressed optimism for continued collaboration and growth in their partnership with the Ministry of Health and World Medical Relief.

Ebrima Bah, Programme Coordinator for ARCD, provided background information on Africa Relief and Community Development and its wide range of activities. He shared that the recent donation is part of their ongoing efforts to support healthcare in The Gambia and emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration in achieving their shared goals.
