ActionAid International The Gambia recently concluded a 3-day review and update of its Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) framework and reporting tools at Kunta-Kinteh Camp-Local Rights Programs (LRP -9), Albrada, Upper Niumi, North Bank Region. The review aimed to ensure effective and efficient service delivery by aligning reporting templates with the requirements of the current Country Strategic Plan VI M&E framework.

The review brought together LRP and core staff involved in project and program activities, emphasizing the importance of reporting in program implementation. Fafa O. Cham, Head of Policy and Programmes at ActionAid International The Gambia, highlighted the necessity of communicating actions to demonstrate progress. The review was designed to provide project managers, LRP managers, coordinators, and partners with a clear understanding of how to fill out reporting templates consistently.

Mr. Cham stressed the importance of uniformity in reporting to facilitate analysis and evaluation. He expressed optimism regarding the team’s level of participation and their ability to produce quality reports that can be easily analyzed. The workshop also aimed to deepen staff’s understanding of M&E concepts and principles, introduce innovative tools and techniques, and clarify the purpose and significance of M&E in project management.

Lamin K Sanneh, lead trainer and M&E Manager at AAIG, emphasized the importance of training and updating tools and templates to enhance monitoring and evaluation practices. This proactive approach is intended to improve the quality and effectiveness of M&E within the organization and enable participants to effectively utilize the updated tools and templates.

Saikou Darboe, Manager LRP 9 in Upper Niumi District, stressed the importance of making M&E a priority in all institutions to ensure the successful implementation of programs. He highlighted that M&E helps measure success according to international standards and prevents failures in program delivery.

Overall, the workshop aimed to equip staff with the necessary skills and knowledge to enhance the organization’s monitoring and evaluation practices. By aligning reporting templates with the current M&E framework, ActionAid International The Gambia seeks to improve the quality and efficiency of its service delivery and ensure that programs are effectively implemented and evaluated.
