Four adults and two minors were arrested and remanded in custody last week on suspicion of being in possession of 124 bundles of marijuana. The four adults, namely Abdoulie Bojang, Pa Badjie, Ousman Badjie, and Edrisa Jatta, were suspected of drug trafficking.

Abdoulie Bojang, a 45-year-old resident of Foni Bajonkootoo, was reportedly apprehended at Ginea village on March 8, 2024, along with his alleged truck driver associate, Pa Badjie. Additionally, truck driver Muhammed Sillah from Bassending in the Upper River Region and his 18-year-old apprentice were also arrested in connection with the drug seizure. The Drug Law Enforcement Agency Gambia (DLEAG) stated that a truck and a pickup vehicle were used to transport the suspected drugs.

In another incident, a 19-year-old individual was arrested in Serrekunda on March 9, 2024, with 27 wraps of Kush. Furthermore, 28-year-old Edrissa Jatta was apprehended at Pipeline on the same day with one large bundle of suspected cannabis sativa.

According to DLEAG, the suspects are currently in custody while further investigations are ongoing. The agency is actively working to combat drug trafficking and related crimes in the region.

The arrests highlight the ongoing efforts to crack down on drug-related offenses in The Gambia. The presence of marijuana and other illicit substances poses a significant threat to public health and safety, as well as the overall well-being of the community. DLEAG’s swift action in apprehending the suspects reflects their commitment to enforcing drug laws and protecting citizens from the harmful effects of substance abuse.

Drug trafficking remains a pressing issue globally, and authorities continue to implement stringent measures to address the problem. The collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the community is essential in combating drug trafficking and ensuring a safer environment for all residents.

It is crucial for individuals to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking to the relevant authorities. By working together, we can effectively tackle the scourge of drug trafficking and create a safer, drug-free society for future generations.

As the investigation into these recent arrests continues, it is imperative for the public to remain informed and cooperate with law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking effectively. Together, we can make a difference and contribute to a drug-free future for our communities.
