A seasoned politician, Louis Gaston Mayila, is enthusiastically preparing to participate in the inclusive national dialogue that Gabon is set to organize starting in April to initiate an important part of the transition that occurred after the coup d’état of August 30, 2023, which put an end to the 56-year regime embodied by the Democratic Party of Gabon (PDG) now in crisis.
“We will speak the truth during this national dialogue,” Mr. Mayila said in a brief interview with the press last weekend.
For the president of the Union for the New Republic (UPNR), this politically significant event will be an unexpected opportunity for all the sons and daughters of Gabon to rethink the new direction to give so that the still nascent democracy can consolidate in Gabon.
“We will go there to see how this new National Council of Democracy, this CND that has left us, I would say, disgusted and disappointed, so that Gabonese finally speak within a national organization that discusses politics and politicians,” he expressed his wish.
