The Minister of Institutional Reform, Murielle Minkoue Mintsa, handed over the document of contributions to be reviewed during the national dialogue in April to the President of the Transition, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema last January. Approximately 1,000 people from all over Gabon and the diaspora, selected based on certain criteria, will participate in the national dialogue scheduled for April. “It was necessary to define criteria because unfortunately we cannot organize a dialogue that would involve all Gabonese people,” explained Mrs. Minkoue Mintsa.

The dialogue will be led by the Archbishop of Libreville, Mgr Jean-Patrick Iba-ba. Thirteen sub-commissions and three main commissions have been set up for this political gathering at the Angondjé stadium in the north of Libreville. However, the opening and closing ceremonies of the meeting will take place at the Sports Palace located in the 3rd district of Libreville.

The Ministry of Institutional Reform reports having received over 30,000 contributions, with 27,000 already reviewed since January 19th. A summary document is expected to be published soon. A budget of 5 billion CFA francs has been allocated for organizing this national dialogue aimed at addressing the various issues that hinder Gabon’s development in all aspects of society: political, economic, and social.

These issues were the cause of the coup or “liberation coup” carried out by the Security and Defense forces on August 30, 2023, under the leadership of the current strongman of the country, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, who ousted Ali Bongo.
