The speech of the Central African Head of State, current president of CEMAC and facilitator of the ECCAS in the Gabonese transition, Faustin Archange Touadéra, was filled with a spirit of altruism, comfort, and strong exhortations towards the Gabonese population, delegates, and key figures of the nation during the opening ceremony of the inclusive national dialogue at the Palais des sports in Libreville on Tuesday.

Faustin Archange Touadéra immediately stated that the opening of the inclusive national dialogue signifies the will to effectively implement the timeline of the transition, which includes, in a second phase, the organization of a referendum later this year.

“It is a significant progress in the timeline to return to constitutional order, validated by the conference of ECCAS Heads of State on March 9,” highlighted the facilitator in the Gabonese transition, who, on behalf of his peers in the sub-region, commended the new authorities in Libreville. “The act is historic because it frees you from your promises,” he pointed out, particularly addressing his host, the president of the CTRI, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma.

To the delegates at the meeting, the Central African president adopted a pedagogical and challenging tone. Faustin Archange Touadéra urged everyone to prioritize Gabon above all considerations and to choose democracy as the only path leading to peace, progress, and coexistence.

“Be worthy and proud of the trust placed in you by the organizations and communities you represent, fully aware that beyond the ECCAS region, all eyes are now turned towards Gabon,” he emphasized.

Addressing the transition authorities and the Gabonese population, the Central African Head of State did not hesitate to underline all the hopes aroused in the sub-region by the current events and the implementation of the exemplary Gabonese transition timeline.
