The Secretary General of the Gabonese Democratic Party (PDG, former ruling party), Angélique Ngoma, during a press conference held on Friday, March 15, 2024 in Libreville, congratulated the proactive diplomacy of the Transition President, President of the Republic, Head of State, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, which led to Gabon’s reinstatement in the CEEAC on March 9, following the 24th ordinary session of Heads of State and Government of the sub-regional institution held in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.
“This decision, seen by the Gabonese Democratic Party as an invaluable mark of confidence in the Authority of the Transition, will have the main effect of rehabilitating Gabon on the sub-regional and even beyond the stage”, said Ms. Ngoma with satisfaction before congratulating the Gabonese leader.
For the PDG, this confidence from the Heads of the Economic Community of Central African States towards their counterpart is a result of the efforts made to restore the image of “our motherland” through “courageous, relevant, and effective actions, leading to the well-being of all Gabonese people.”
Gabon had been suspended on September 4, 2023, following the coup d’état on August 30. In its statement, the PDG expressed its willingness to work alongside the Committee for Transition and the Restoration of Institutions (CTRI, in power) for the “reconstruction of a prosperous and enviable Gabon.”
