In a note issued by the president of the Episcopal Commission of Gabon, Bishop Jean Vincent Ondo Eyene, Bishop of Oyem, the Bishops invite all Christian faithful in Gabon and the diaspora to a chain of prayers from March 26 to April 8, 2024, to entrust Gabon and the national dialogue to God.
These moments of prayer and communion consist, during the first three days (from March 26 to 28), of expressing an intention for the conduct of the inclusive national dialogue according to the will of God.
The prelates urge Christian faithful, laypeople, women and men of goodwill, aged 14 to 60, to observe at least one day of individual fasting.
A novena to the divine mercy will then take place from Good Friday (March 29) until Saturday, April 6, to submit the country to divine mercy, the note emphasizes that an exposition of the Blessed Sacrament for adoration will be organized in all parishes in Gabon throughout the day on April 2.
Finally, from April 3 to 8, 2024, there will be Eucharistic adorations followed by the meditation of at least one rosary to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
The works of the inclusive national dialogue, scheduled from April 2 to 30, 2024, will be conducted by a bureau chaired by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Libreville, Bishop Jean Patrick Iba-Ba. He is assisted by other men of God, representing all religious denominations in Gabon.
