Unused for several years and parked in various locations in the capital with varying degrees of security, the buses from the last African Cup of Nations (CAN) organized by Gabon will be used to transport some participants to the upcoming national dialogue.

They will finally serve a purpose. Left unused for seven years, the buses that were used to transport participants to the 31st edition of the African Cup of Nations football tournament organized by Gabon between mid-January and early February 2017 will be made available for the national dialogue scheduled for next April. The announcement was made this week during a meeting with business leaders involved in the organization of the aforementioned meeting by the head of the infrastructure and logistics committee, Dr. André Jacques Augand.

During this meeting, the government official reminded his interlocutors of the need to “refurbish” these buses currently parked in various locations in the capital with varying degrees of security. “These buses are here, we no longer use them. They need to be serviced,” he told the press.

Once back in operation, these vehicles are expected to reinforce the fleet operated by the two public transport companies, Sogatra and Trans’Urb, during the event that will take place at the Palais des Sports in Libreville for the opening and closing ceremonies, and at the Stade de l’Amitié Sino-Gabonaise in Angondjé for the commission meetings.
