A seasoned veteran of Gabonese politics, René Ndemezo’o Obiang, who reiterates his unwavering support for the President of the Transition, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, for having “spared Gabon from the worst”, expressed his indignation in an interview with Gabon Matin against those who do not want the success of the transition in Gabon initiated following the coup d’état of August 30, 2023.
“I believe that one must take a principled position of support and not indiscriminately fuel the poison of doubt within the population,” Mr. Ndemezo’o Obiang made clear, criticizing those who are criticizing the governance barely six (06) months into the Committee for the Transition and the Restoration of Institutions (CTRI in power).
For René Ndemezo’o Obiang, at the halfway point of the transition in six months, the assessment is “largely positive”. Because, he argues, thanks to General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, students have regained their scholarships, retirees their pensions and arrears, households relieved by the decrease in the price of gas, etc…
