The provincial coordination of the Christian Democratic Bloc (BDC) exchanged last weekend with the population of the Trois Filaos neighborhood, in the 2nd district of Port-Gentil. This meeting marks the relaunch of its social activities in the economic capital of Gabon.

With a list of more than 650 members in the city of Port-Gentil, the Christian Democratic Bloc (BDC) plans to double its membership by 2025. If the upcoming elections are the goal supporting this objective, the party founded by the late Guy-Christian Mavioga intends to play its part in the current political landscape of the country. On Saturday, March 9th, the provincial coordinator, Azaria Pono, rallied his troops.

“Since the liberation event, we have not been able to exchange with those who supported us during the electoral period. This meeting marks the restart of our activities, our involvement in the transition, and our projection for the upcoming events,” Azaria Pono stated.

Indeed, during a meeting for exchange and networking, the provincial coordination of the Christian Democratic Bloc (BDC) gathered its collaborators to restart activities that were slowed down by the events of last August. “We started activities some time ago and we will continue to assist widows and orphans. It was in this neighborhood that everything started, by offering food supplies and scholarships,” added the provincial coordinator of the BDC.

In the Troisième Filaos neighborhood, precisely at the Henry Clément location, the BDC interacted with the population that provided unwavering support during the last general elections. It was also about reaffirming that this political movement with religious ideologies is not dead, and that it intends to play a decisive role in 2025 in memory of its deceased founder. “We will help the city of Port-Gentil regain its former glory,” emphasized coordinator Azaria Pono.

By soon launching its door-to-door campaign, the BDC plans to provide support to widows, orphans, and families in precarious situations as part of its action plan. In two years of existence in the Ogooué-Maritime province, with over 650 members, the provincial delegation of the BDC also believes that political dialogue centered on electoral code reforms “would contribute to a calming of the political atmosphere before the scheduled elections next year.”

Confirming their presence in the city of Port-Gentil, Azaria Pono and the members of the Christian Democratic Bloc have chosen to follow the path laid out by the late Guy Christian Mavioga, the founder of this party who passed away two years ago. “We intend to tackle the social aspect, the employability of young people. It is difficult to understand how Port-Gentil, the economic capital that has made Gabon what it is, can suffer so much from poverty,” he lamented.
