On Saturday, March 23, 2024, activists from the Gabonese Social Democrats (SDG) party in the province of Ogooué Ivindo gathered at the multipurpose hall in Makokou for their political comeback around Thierry Makando, national secretary, spokesperson, and Hery Alex Walker Anguilet, political cabinet director of the party President, representing the President of the political party.
This meeting, the first since the party’s return to the national political scene, is the first step in a long series of political comebacks planned in the 9 provinces.
During this meeting, in accordance with the statutes and internal regulations of the SDG, delegates from the four departments of the largest province in the country, during the commission meetings, evaluated the activities of this political party founded on August 9, 2018, before making recommendations in order to build a solidified political party.
At this meeting, through support motions, the activists reaffirmed their commitment to Juste Louango Bouyoumeka, President of the SDG.
The second highlight of these Ogooué Ivindo reunions was the inauguration of the provincial headquarters of the party located in front of Alexandre Samba high school in the 1st arrondissement of the city. The inauguration of this beautiful working space is part of the ambition of the President of this political party to be present throughout the territory.
As the second political force in the country before the forced fusion-absorption, the SDG had 7 deputies, 49 local and departmental elected officials including 1 Senator, 6 Mayors, and 4 presidents of departmental councils, as well as several senior officials.
