The President of the Senate of the Transition, Paulette Missambo, opening the first ordinary session of the year 2024 on Friday, invited her fellow senators to prepare to participate in the inclusive national dialogue scheduled for April next year to reform the institutions that will lead the country after the transition, which is expected to end in August 2025 with the election of a new President of the Republic.

“During this session, we must indeed take part in the inclusive national dialogue. We must prepare ourselves intellectually and morally to be present at the restoration of the Republic to its ideal, that is, the general interest,” said the head of the upper house of Parliament.

The former president of the National Union (UN, radical opposition under Ali Bongo) praised the first steps of General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma, who overthrew Ali Bongo following the coup d’état of August 30, 2023. She notably praised the realization of the commitments made by the President of the Transition.

Among these commitments are the payment of scholarships to high schools and colleges, the alignment with the new salary system and the valorization of retirement pensions, the creation of the airline company Fly Gabon, and the purchase of Assala Energy by the State.
