The President of the political movement, Together for the Republic (EPR), Dieudonné Minlama Mintogo, in a solemn declaration, urged the President of the Transition, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, not to succumb to the temptation of clinging to power.
“I solemnly ask you not to give in to temptation, to reject all calls for candidacy, to stay away from deceitful deceivers and to focus exclusively on your mission to restore the institutions and dignity of the Gabonese people,” advised Mr. Minlama Mintogo.
For the former candidate in the 2016 presidential election, “the mission is noble unlike the temptation which is base and ephemeral.” At the end of this transition planned for late 2025, he encourages the top Gabonese official to organize transparent, free, and inclusive elections in order to hand over power to civilians.
“At the end of this mission, present a clean copy to the Gabonese people and to God. The peoples of the world and the eternal Almighty God will be eternally grateful to you,” he pleaded.
Regarding the organization of the national dialogue planned to take place from April 2 to 30 at the Palais des Sports in Libreville and at the Angondjé stadium in the north of the Gabonese capital, Dieudonné Minlama Mintogo recommends that this grand gathering only take into account the political and democratic aspects that are, according to him, the cause of the current crisis.
He proposed in particular issues of administrative and electoral delimitation, revision of the constitution, revision of electoral law, and rebuilding and improvement of the bodies responsible for organizing elections.
