After announcing his resignation from the Gabonese Democratic Party (PDG) on Sunday, March 24, saying it had become “strange” after three years in prison, the former mayor of Libreville is on the verge of trading his role as a zealous defender of Ali Bongo for that of leader of a future association, Together for Restoration (EPR), in support of the CTRI.

Knowing him, it was to be expected. Léandre Nzué is in the process of creating his own political structure. He announced this on Sunday, March 24, at the same time he made public his resignation from the PDG, a party he joined several decades ago, but which he says he no longer recognizes, especially since the beginning of his legal troubles in September 2020. Released from prison after three years, the former mayor of Libreville does not explicitly mention forming a new political party, but an association.
Named “Together for Restoration (EPR),” this structure, whose legal existence will require the organization of a founding general assembly in a few weeks, adds to those that have been created in the last six months with a common goal: supporting the Committee for Transition and Institutional Restoration (CTRI) and especially its leader, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, the President of the Transition. Disappointed by the PDG, the initiator says he will now surround himself with “men and women who are responsible, credible, concerned about the general interest and the well-being of all.”
According to Léandre Nzué, Together for Restoration is “an association with a political, economic, and social character [that rejects] individualism, egocentrism, the cult of personality, condescension, abuse of power, and influence peddling.” It defends moral values and political ethics, taking into account the dignity of the people. EPR advocates for “the orthodoxy of state finance and asset management, good institutional governance, national unity.” The goal is the development of Gabon and the empowerment of its population.
