In an exclusive interview with Gabonactu.com, the President of the Alliance for National Renaissance (ARENA), Richard Moulomba Mombo, argued that if the CTRI wanted an inclusive and open dialogue, he would be happy to see participation modalities agreed upon through consensus.

Richard Moulombo Mombo believes that no one should have the right to choose among the members of his political party who should represent ARENA at the upcoming national inclusive dialogue. “How can a third party, even if they were a liberator, decide who should represent me?” he exclaimed.

Such an approach would be contrary to representative democracy, according to the President of ARENA, who calls for obstacles to be removed before the first steps of the dialogue.

The Minister of Institutional Restoration, during a press conference last Friday, confirmed the holding of the national inclusive dialogue from April 2 to 30, 2024.

It will bring together 580 delegates. Each political party is invited to propose a list of 4 people, from which the authorities will choose 1 representative of the party.

“And this is where the problem lies,” argues Richard Moulomba, stating that one cannot build a sustainable infrastructure without the specialists in the field.

“Bridges should be built by civil engineers, not bakers. The issue of power, its conception, and management, in all countries around the world, is a highly political issue. Trying to sideline politicians and the National Council of Democracy (CND) in the next dialogue is a serious misjudgment,” he cautioned.

Therefore, the President of ARENA invites the transitional authorities and the organizers of the dialogue to find wisdom by correcting the course now.

Particularly incisive, Richard Moulomba Mombo suspects the CTRI of wanting to focus, through the future dialogue, only on the period 2009-2023 and to overlook the period 1968-2009 as if by a “Concorde plane.”

According to him, this period was filled with all kinds of crimes, waste, and unimaginable vices.

And the President of ARENA recalls that the history of Gabon has been written in indelible ink since 1960. “No page of this open book can be erased with saliva or closed without being fully read,” he concluded.
